Joshua Brown, a member of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation, urged voters on Monday to support Joe Kelly in the November 3 election. Brown, who also served on the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, submitted a letter praising Kelly’s leadership style and work ethic.
Brown said he worked with Kelly during his tenure on the Representative Town Meeting and currently works with him on the Board of Estimate and Taxation. He noted that he observed Kelly’s methods while serving on the town meeting’s Education and Labor Contracts committees. Brown described Kelly as someone who is clear about objectives and pragmatic about what can realistically be achieved.
According to Brown, Kelly builds consensus by listening carefully and bringing people together. He characterized Kelly as forthright about what he knows and what he needs to learn. Brown stated that when new issues arise, Kelly learns the details thoroughly. He added that Kelly is accessible and responsive, taking calls from constituents and calling them back.
Brown listed fiscal responsibility, collaboration, and respect for all voices as core community values that Kelly holds. He noted that Kelly has served Greenwich in multiple capacities. These roles include volunteer fireman, coach, business leader, builder, justice of the peace, and elected official on the Board of Education, Representative Town Meeting, and Board of Estimate and Taxation.
Brown described Kelly as a devoted husband and father who manages these duties with energy and passion. He stated that Kelly works hard and shows up for the community. Brown concluded by saying that Kelly has earned their support and that Hartford needs him. He asked readers to vote for Kelly in the upcoming election.
