NFL Names Jay-Z as Super Bowl LXI Halftime Performer

The National Football League announced on Monday that rapper Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. The game is scheduled for February 14, 2026, at a stadium near Los Angeles. This marks the first time the hip-hop artist will take the stage during the NFL championship game.

Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation, has produced the halftime show since 2019. He has played a central role in selecting the performers for those events. The league did not clarify if he will be the sole headliner or if guest stars will join him on stage.

The NFL stated in a release that fans can expect anticipation over who might appear with him. The league noted that his wife, Beyoncé, is a likely candidate for a guest spot. The announcement followed two concerts Jay-Z performed at the Super Bowl venue over the weekend.

Those shows were part of a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Shawn Carter, his real name, described the moment as the culmination of a long career. He called the upcoming performance a dream come true after thirty years in the music industry.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed excitement about the booking. He said he had long wanted Jay-Z to perform on the halftime stage. Goodell recalled requesting that Jay-Z take the stage whenever the timing felt right. The commissioner praised the artist’s cultural impact and creativity.

The performance will occur during Super Bowl LXI. The event is set to take place in the Los Angeles area. Jay-Z will join a list of high-profile artists who have performed in previous halftime shows produced by Roc Nation.
